Flood Relief in Guyana: How To Help

COMMUNITY RELIEF EFFORTS

WE ARE NOT RAISING FUNDS FOR 2006 AS YET.

From 2005:

Jouvay Ventures, L.L.C. (jouvay.com) will donate funds raised through this site to the Alicea Foundation Inc.
(*A Not For Profit Company registered 11th November, 1997. Companies Act of Guyana 4279 filed by Cameron & Shepherd Attorneys-at-Law 2 Avenue of the Republic, Georgetown). According to Denise Dias, the company was established: "To promote any charitable purposes for the benefit of the people of Guyana and in particular the advancement of education, the furtherance of health and safety and the relief of poverty, distress and sickness" and it was formed after the death of her daughter through a drunken hit and run case. Some of us involved with this website have also worked with members of the Alicea Foundation on other matters, so it is a logical step for us to continue supporting them.

While we are donating the monies raised here to the Alicea Foundation for the reasons given above, we also want to publicise the fact that there are many other groups doing relief effort in Guyana and fundraising abroad. We post their information below, including information on how to donate to any of them, so that you can make an informed decision to try to get the monies and goods to Guyana. We contacted most if not all of them prior to making our decision, and can safely say that Guyana is on the move.

The Alicea Founation will post full updates of their activities. There are many other groups in Guyana doing relief effort and fundraising abroad and their information is found on this site. We contacted most if not all of them prior to making our decision, and can safely say that Guyana is on the move.

Dr. Maya Trotz is spearheading our online fundraising effort if you have any questions ((510) 459-3513). CLICK HERE FOR AN UPDATE OF DONATIONS SO FAR. Please read the discussion forums for more detailed information on the state of the country.

Donations can be easily made over the internet through jouvay.com's PAYPAL account. The PAYPAL fees associated with using this service are 2.9% + $0.30 USD of each transaction. Jouvay.com shall not charge any fees on top of that and will donate the entire amount that you give minus the PAYPAL and bank transfer fees when we make a donation. If for any reason when you click on the donate button below there is a shipping and handling fee please do not pay and please contact us immediately.

* The Alicea Foundation is a non-profit organization registered only in Guyana and therefore donations made through our efficient and cost effective system will not be tax deductible.
