The Citizens' Initiative was launched
on January 24th after a meeting with the President. The Citizens' Initiative
is playing a facilitating role for all of the NGOs and citizens'organisations
that are involved in the disaster response and maintaining a database
of all information that will be helpful to better coordinate the response
efforts. The Centre, through Major General Joe Singh, is in contact with
the Civil Defence Commission and the Joint Operations Centre so that action
on the ground is actually targeting the critically affected communities.
The location of the Coordinating Centre is the
