This site was created on 8/22/09 by Maya Trotz. It started out as a simple query to info@lcds.gov.gy about the cost of the McKinsey Report on the LCDS. After failing to receive that information, time was spent trying to understand the LCDS and the consultation/awareness sessions by visiting the LCDS website and by reading various online material written on the subject. The LCDS officials did send a response stating that the Clinton Foundation paid for the McKinsey report. A request for information from their site was submitted.

As a member of the Guyanese diaspora, the internet is the one way to remain engaged in discussions on the LCDS. Hopefully this site will become a resource for those trying to understand and contribute to the LCDS.

The conceptual framework for the LCDS states "It is proposed that the LCDS Website will post comments and submissions and will provide summaries of stakeholder consultations and stakeholder feedback. It is proposed that an LCDS Bulletin Board be a feature of the Website which will publicly... track stakeholders’ submissions to and comments on the LCDS draft. The Website will also record statements of support in principle for the LCDS, criticisms and concerns, divergent views, and recommendations. It is hoped that in this way the spectrum of public opinion will be recorded and documented in a transparent and open way."

Where is this on the lcds website? As of 8/25/09 it is not there. Public consultations started in June 2009 and end in September 2009.
