In March 2009 Deo Persaud accompanied a University of South Florida Interdisciplinary graduate class into Mahdia. In these pictures he captures Mahdia and most images are from the medium scale gold mines which use mercury to recover gold from ore. To see Deo's Mahdia, click here.

Guyana Floods 2005

Pictures taken by Maya Trotz during the 2005 floods in Guyana. Reference is made to these floods in the LCDS document. Funds from the LCDS would help the country, especially the coast, adapt to climate change. Organizations like the Guyana Association of Professional Engineers (GAPE) have been trying to institute building codes that address flooding issues, but TO NO AVAIL as of 8/30/2009.
